Discovery Camp is an amazing way to enjoy the summer break from school. Choose a week or sign up for the whole summer, elementary age children will enjoy the different topics and learn about a wide variety of subjects. They will get to play in the Museum for one hour each day and will spend the rest of their time with other campers, doing crafts and activities on each week’s theme.
The camp is limited to 25 students each week and is run by a certified Highlands County schoolteacher with help from high school volunteers. Camp is 9 to 5 each day for a full week, early drop off or late pick up is available for an extra fee. Registration and payment are required to hold your spot in class.
The cost is $75 per student per week; non-members pay a $10 registration fee. Camp care is available for $20 per family, per week.
Payment Schedule - If you want to sign up for multiple weeks, you can pay a $20 deposit per week to put your child’s name on the class list. Then when that week comes you only owe $55 due on the first day of class.

Art is in a flower, hanging on your wall and in your grandmother’s quilt. We will look for art all over, find some famous artists in unusual places, and create our own masterpieces.

How Do You Say “Hello”?

Smiling, shaking hands, bowing, - how do you say hello? Have fun with costumes and customs as we discover how people say hello all over the world.

Edible Science
Teacher – Shelly Word
Every time you heat food, you are changing the properties of matter. Cooking is science at its yummiest.
Change liquids into solids as we make cupcakes. You’ll find matter matters in the camp kitchen!

Museum Pirates

Ahoy mateys! Join our crew for a week of adventure on the high seas. We’ll meet pirates from your favorite tales and create our own pirate gear.

Galaxy Explorers

What is out there beyond the blue sky? With NASA’s new Martian rover, the answer is clearer than ever before. This is your chance to explore our galaxy and the universe beyond.

Time Travelers

We are going back in time to discover some of earth’s great mysteries. We’ll sock hop through the 50’s and disco through the 70’s. Can we predict what our world will look like in 2053? Hop in our time machine and travel with us!

Pyramids and Mummies

Pharaoh for a day sounds great until you discover their fate. We’ll dig for ancient artifacts, explore the pyramids, and even find a mummy or two. Grab a camel and a canteen and let’s head out to the ancient Egyptian Desert.
July 29- Aug 2
Puppets, Great and Small
Teacher – Joy Eastman
Join us as we make all sorts of puppets and put on shows with our creations. From big to small, puppets can be a fun way to make up stories and be anyone you want to be. A whole world of make believe waits for the lucky campers that sign up for this week!
Please note!
• Camp is from 9 am to 5 pm daily
• Campers should bring a bag lunch that does not need refrigeration or heating
• Campers may not be left off more than 15 minutes before the start of camp or picked up later than 15 minutes after the end of camp unless registered for camp care.
• Cost for each week is $75 per child. Non members of the museum pay a $10 registration fee

• A 50% refund will be given if requested more than one week prior to camp.
• No refunds will be given if requested less than a week before camp begins

REMEMBER!
The Museum is THE place to be this summer! Admission is $4.00 per person for children and adults. Museum hours during the summer break will be Monday through Saturday 10 am to 5 pm, Thursday 10 am – 8 pm, closed on Sunday. Discovery Camp is held in a separate building, the Museum is open to the public and ready for play!
